Light At The End Of A Very Dark Tunnel

Christ this project has been an interesting one. All tracks but the notorious and beautiful ballad "Let's Stop Time" are finished. The original scratch take came out with so much feeling, but it's been decided that it needs to be re-recorded to fit better amongst the other tracks.
The good news is, the album was well worth it.

Now for a realistic timeframe — we're not giving one. At some point in the next couple of months, you may revisit this site and joyfully discover that it has changed. That the site is all new and that their are available samples of the new album to be heard. Until then.

Coming Clean

It's obviously Summer now and still no Both Ways. This album has been a long time coming and we're now providing an explanation of sorts.

This band has had its share of differences - same as nearly every band in history. Right now, Rachel and George are spending their time on other projects. Rachel's solo work has progressed rapidly and she'll be releasing at least two more projects this year alone. George is playing with a variety of talented bands and enjoying the freedom it's providing him.

We still have every intention of finishing the Both Ways project and getting it released some time this year, but for now all promised release dates are off.

That being said, hopefully, July and August will see the album getting wrapped up for a release in Fall. Fingers crossed.

Mixing & Mastering

Should be about another month of finishing now, before Both Ways gets ready for printing.

We're expecting a late Spring release.

iTunes, Amazon, & The Likes

Well, you can grab the album through some of your mainstream sources now. iTunes, Amazon, & Napster to name a few.

Merry Xmas and Happy Holidays to all.

Amoeba / The Orchard

There's been talk of distribution - as of yet, physical distribution hasn't been a number one priority, however, digital has. Strater Records has just signed to The Orchard, so albums will be available via all online stores by Christmas.

As far as physical, you'll still have to order a disc through us, unless you're in the Hollywood area. You can then run on down to Amoeba on Sunset. As one of the best record shops on the planet, it's a good place to start.

Sample Taste

News of "Both Ways," has been in the air for the year. Of course, Ms. Car also had to take some time for her solo album, but she and George are cranking away and it's really getting close.

As of now, the album has ten tracks, including a ballad or two. There were no ballads on the first album, so you'll be getting to hear a new side of the song writing and perfomance. Without further adou, here's the title track.

Eh, Screw That Show

The "celebrity judges" for Lollapalooza have posted the bands for the third round and we ain't on it. Well, seemed lame at first, but we've been jump-started.

We're dying to get on tour and come see all of you who have expressed wanting to catch us in person. Show us your love and we'll be there as fast as humanly possible. It's just not as easy to do these things without the seemingly endless cash flow the big boys have, but that's how we prefer it and we're sure you do too.

Ding! Lollapalooza Round Two

Thanks for your help and votes. We did pretty well and placed nicely within the Top 100 bands. A couple thousand entered so we're happy.

Round Two involves no voting from the public. Perry Farrell is heading a list of celebrity judges and will listen to the remaining bands. They will then make decisions regarding who goes on to Round Three - when your votes will again be needed. Even more so this time.

Will keep you posted. Thanks again.

New Bassist

Undercurrent has a new member. The need for a bassist arrived when former player Joann Fabrizio and the rest of the band came to a mutual agreement for her to play on another project.

Long-time friend and musician Fabio Novitsky will be the replacement. Rachel and George are excited about the new addition. Fabio is a native Brazilian and decidedly laid back in all situations.

Visit Us On MySpace

We have admittedly not been big fans of MySpace. We've actually avoided it almost completely, but as of last Thursday we're giving it shot.

We've now exchanged thoughts and gotten to know a bunch of you, so are now acknowledging its advantages and our defeat.

We have four tracks on our page that you can listen to in their entirety. Go check it out and be "our friend."

Purchasing The Album Or Singles

We're getting emails and such about where to buy the music. Right now, Undercurrent is available exclusively through this website.

Digital distribution with companies such as iTunes, Rhapsody, and Napster is being looked into, but fear not. Purchasing downloads through the music store is Paypal operated and perfectly safe. Just navigate yourself to the merchandise section.

Alternatively, you're welcome to send payment the old-fashioned way if you'd like to own an actual, honest to goodness, hard copy. We will mail you an ancient item called a cd - short for compact disc.

Commericial Radio Campaign Begins

Tuesday, May 30th is day one of Undercurrent's move to mainstream radio. A six week campaign with Howard Rosen Promotions will hopefully help the music fans out there searching for something different, to find it.

The first single release is "Night & Day." If you hear it on your local station and dig it, check out the rest of the album samples, go to the download store, and call your station to proclaim your unabashed delight.

Support indy albums and labels or we'll all be eaten by a monster.

Performing Hiatus

Undercurrent has just finished mastering their debut self-titled album and are hard at work on the follow-up "Both Ways." Rachel and George describe it as "the more elegant 'sister' of the first album."

Until the album is completed, they have opted to focus their attention on recording and mixing, but promise a bigger and better show when they return.

If you'd like to hear samples of tracks from the first album, click the listen button or go to the media page.

Undercurrent Signed

Rachel and George signed with the boutique label Strater Records in early 2006. The label has spent some time sprucing up the look and sound of the first album.

Next on the agenda is getting the music out to radio stations nationwide. With any luck, you'll hear Undercurrent on your local station by late Spring.

Music Video Prospects

It has been mentioned in this news column that a video for the track Hot Thing was in pre-production. This was apparently wishful thinking as it is yet to happen.

There are still plans to do a video for Hot Thing as well as Lies, and possibly Emergency. However, times have proved themselves very busy. We'll keep you posted when the next vid actually gets going, but in the meantime, we hope Night & Day tides you over.

"Brunch" Q Television Appearance

Undercurrent survived their first televised performance on the Q network October 14th. They were contacted to be guests on the daily morning talk show Brunch. They performed "Night & Day" in its entirety as well as a portion of "Obsession." "Both Ways" and "Again and Again" from the second album were also performed in part. The "Night & Day music video will be playing in its entirety on their evening show Q the Music as well.
